The Chobe Princesses, a fleet of luxurious river houseboats from the Zambezi Queen Collection by Mantis, have unveiled a stunning new look following an extensive refurbishment.

These intimate floating sanctuaries, which cruise along the wildlife-rich Chobe River on the Botswana-Namibia border, have been revamped to offer guests an even more comfortable and stylish river safari experience.

With just 4 to 5 cabins and a maximum of 10 guests per boat, the Chobe Princess houseboats provide a private, villa-like atmosphere for small groups or individual travellers. Each houseboat features a private chef, dedicated guide, and host, allowing for fully customised itineraries. The recent refurbishments ensure that the vessels now offer an even higher level of comfort, elegance, and connection to the breathtaking natural surroundings of the Chobe River.

“We’re thrilled to unveil the new look of the Chobe Princess,” said Kate Powell, General Manager (Sales and Marketing) of the Zambezi Queen Collection.

“Our aim was to elevate the guest experience while staying true to the houseboats’ unique charm. The result is a perfect blend of modern luxury and safari-inspired style.”

Key Highlights of the Refurbishment

The upgrades span across all areas of the houseboats, enhancing both private and communal spaces:

  • Cabins: Private cabins have been transformed with new headboards, lighting fixtures, and stylish dressing tables. Revamped bedding with crisp white linen, decorative cushions, and bed throws ensures a cohesive, elegant look throughout.
  • Bathrooms: Chobe Princess 3 underwent a complete bathroom renovation, featuring modern fittings and stylish tiling. Bathrooms on Chobe Princess 1 and 2 are set to receive similar upgrades soon.
  • Communal Areas: Lounge areas have been enhanced with new cushions, rugs, and artwork. Dining chairs and sofas have also been updated for added comfort, and newly installed air-conditioning units ensure a more pleasant experience in the common areas.
  • Top Decks: Each boat now boasts a top viewing deck, providing uninterrupted views of the Chobe River. Chobe Princess 3 received this upgrade most recently, with new outdoor tables and ambient solar lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere in the evenings.
  • Sustainability: The refurbishment has prioritised sustainable design, with placemats and runners made from offcuts of newly upholstered cushions. High-quality games, such as chess and backgammon, have also been introduced to enhance the onboard experience.

A New Era of River Safaris

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a wildlife expedition, or a family holiday, the newly upgraded Chobe Princesses promise an unforgettable adventure on the Chobe River. Guests can now enjoy a luxurious yet intimate setting while exploring one of Africa’s most captivating landscapes.

“These updates give agents even more confidence to sell the Chobe Princess experience,” added Powell. “With more mooring spots, flexible itineraries, and the ability to sail further, the Chobe Princess offers the same exceptional hospitality as the Zambezi Queen, while delivering a truly unique river safari experience.”
